Research intern for NGO International Alert

As a volunteer researcher I interviewed LGBT people in Latin American conflict states.

Most policy/think-tanks might call themselves ‘peace-keeping‘ organisations, but International Alert’s mission is to build peace, which is why I signed on as a volunteer researcher in under Henri Myrttinen in the Gender Division.

I used my bilingual skills to make contact and build relationships with civil society groups and individuals in Latin America, to help build the organisation’s efforts in the region. I interviewed politicians, activists and other researchers, and translated my findings from Spanish to English for analysis.

I presented my findings at Kent University, using my research to identify and address the challenges experienced by sexual minorities in conflict states.
